The Bed Bug Dilemma

The resurgence of Bed Bugs in recent years is mainly due to the inability to easily detect and exterminate them with modern pesticides. Coupled with their rapid reproduction and ability to hitchhike undetected leads to the estimate that Bed Bugs are spreading throughout the U.S at an alarming rate of 500% annually. The recent media exposure concerning bed bug infestations and solutions has exposed a problem that can be managed in most cases, and turned it into a whirlwind of “theories” that fail time and time again.

Many exaggerated responses can be avoided, such as throwing out furniture or sealing rooms off for weeks on end by a simple proactive plan of problem identification and planning accordingly. Identification of the problem and its extent is key in implementing a successful solution and that is exactly what we do.  We discreetly and efficiently detect the presence of Bed Bugs and the extent of the problem.

Our Answer

By using highly trained scent detection canines, paired with a diligent visual inspection performed by the handler, we are able to identify the presence of Bed Bugs in any commercial or residential structure, including hotels, homes and apartments, airplanes, trains, buildings, ships, etc.

Although the accuracy rate of canine detection has been tested to exceed 90% (visual only tested at 40%), it is only as good as the handler’s ability to “read” his canine and visually identify clues and patterns consistent with the presence of a bed bug infestation. Our dog and handler team becomes the most effective weapon in the detection of these elusive pests and utilizing our services ensures that if extermination is required, it is done effectively and appropriately.

Enough emphasis cannot be placed on the importance of a diligent handler and a well trained canine making an effective team.  The training of our dogs is performed by master trainer, David Latimer,  who also trains dogs to detect bombs and drugs and  we take our inspections and follow up just as seriously.  We are in the business of inspections, not extermination, and have no financial motivation to find Bed Bug infestations. Consequently, our favorite inspections are the ones where we provide nothing but relief.
